About the role

Talio builds AI software that helps recruitment teams interview candidates, follow up applications, and automate repetitive work. At Talio, AI is both part of our product and part of how we build it. We use coding agents throughout development, from exploring ideas and implementing features to writing tests and reviewing changes. You'll work directly with both founders, Stijn Bruggeman and Jarne Verstraete, with Stijn guiding your engineering work. You'll gain hands-on experience in agentic engineering: breaking problems into clear tasks, giving agents useful context, reviewing their output, and validating that the result actually works. You'll learn where AI accelerates development, where it needs guidance, and when your own engineering judgement matters, rather than blindly accepting generated code. We scope tasks to your skills, school requirements, and learning goals. Our stack includes Svelte and TypeScript, Python and Django, PostgreSQL, APIs, and AI integrations. You do not need to know all of it already. This is an unpaid educational internship with a flexible start date and duration aligned with your school. The role is remote-first. If your school requires onsite attendance, three days a week in Antwerp can be arranged by mutual agreement. We confirm your school's conditions and suitable placement agreements before accepting the placement.

What you'll do

  • Build scoped frontend and backend features alongside AI coding agents, with guidance and code review
  • Learn to scope tasks, provide context, and steer agents effectively
  • Review, debug, and test AI-generated code
  • Follow real features from an idea through implementation, review, and release
  • Work on API integrations and improve existing product flows
  • Investigate and fix bugs, and add tests for the behavior you change
  • Take part in code reviews and use feedback to improve your work
  • Improve product usability and document what you build
  • Explore AI feature work when it fits your skills and learning goals

Who we're looking for

  • You are studying software development, IT, Multimedia & Creative Technologies, or a related field
  • You have basic programming skills and have built a small school or personal project
  • You communicate clearly in English or Dutch
  • You are curious, take initiative, and are willing to learn from feedback
  • You do not need previous professional experience, experience with coding agents, or knowledge of our entire stack

What you'll get

  • Direct collaboration with both founders, with Stijn guiding your engineering work
  • Practical experience with modern AI-assisted development workflows
  • A behind-the-scenes view of how an AI-native company builds and ships software
  • Scoped tasks and feedback matched to your skills and learning goals
  • Exposure to Svelte, TypeScript, Python, Django, PostgreSQL, APIs, and AI integrations
  • A flexible start date and duration aligned with your school
  • Remote-first work, with three onsite days a week in Antwerp by mutual agreement if your school requires it
